Chisholm Christensen (named after Jesse Chisholm), a 5th Generation Rancher and Montanan, gives us a unique behind the scenes look at what Ranching is really like in the 21st century. The Ranch started in 1909, where for 5 generations and over hundred years they have been raising cattle on the same land his great great grandfather homesteaded. Chisholm admits, "All of them figured out a way to be sustainable, so I guess it's my turn.

Not all traditions are dead, there are some are worth preserving. The Waid Ranch branded its first animal in 1897. Since then thousands of cattle were raised and sold. In the old days the cattle were driven down to the railyard and sent off to the slaughter. The Brand was the mark of ownership. Without a brand a rancher could not prove he was selling his cattle or his neighbors.

Many don't see Montana like this, from the solitary snow pit atop the remote Front Range in Central Montana. No motorized vehicles, movie sets, or movie stars, just purple mountains and jagged peaks rising out of an ancient sea floor. As the guys winter camp among the trees and explore new lines on splitboards, they learn something from the unique experience, about their environment and their place in it.
